This wonderful 100 year old car won the "Tom Thomson Art Gallery Timeless Design" award at the 2024 Cobble Beach Concours. The award is named after the celebrated Canadian artist Tom Thomson (1877-1917). Thomson's work is unique and has a readily identifiable style. The award got me thinking: what if Thomson had lived to see the Rolls and decided to create a work based on this beautiful car. To be clear, Thomson's works consist almost entirely of landscapes, depicting trees, skies, lakes, and rivers based on north central locations in Ontario. His painting style is completely different than mine and I could only hope for and strive to attain his talent... but... here's my attempt.

This new original work features the barques of "Little Venice" in Comar, France. Ever on the lookout for the next painting, Jay Koka came across this wonderful location on a recent visit to the town.

Known for its network of canals and bridges, medieval Comar is located near the border with Germany. Its waterways are filled with half-timbered houses in pastel colors and the town center features cobblestones and traditional architecture. Not published.
